From posting to paid — the whole flow.
Workit connects people who need something done with workers who can do it, in their area. No middleman fees during launch. Cash or EFT on completion, agreed upfront. Here's exactly how it works for both sides.
If you need a job done
Five steps. About two minutes to post.
- 1
Sign up as an employer
Name, email, phone, password. No subscription, no listing fee.
- 2
Post the job
Title, category, what needs doing, a suggested price, and your suburb. Optional but helpful: pin the exact location so workers see how close it is to them, add a photo, mark it urgent, and fill in tools / experience / duration. Pick cash or EFT on completion as your payment method.
- 3
Pick a worker from the offers
Nearby workers either accept your suggested price or send a counter-offer with a short message. Tap any name to see their rating, completed-job count, reputation badges, and whether they're Verified. Accept the one you trust — the other offers are politely declined.
- 4
Stay in touch while the job runs
The job page becomes a small workspace — in-app chat, the worker's live location (if they share it), and a red Emergency button that dials SAPS 10111. The worker marks the job done and uploads completion photos.
- 5
Confirm + pay + rate
Once you're happy with the work, tap Confirm completion and pay the agreed price (cash or EFT). Both of you then leave a 1–5 star rating and an optional note. Happy with them? You can rebook the same worker in one tap next time.
If you're here to earn
Workers go through one extra step — verification — because employers are letting you near their home, family, or business.
- 1
Sign up as a worker
Same form, just pick the Worker role.
- 2
Get verified
Upload your SA ID, a short selfie video, proof of address, a skills summary, and the categories you can work in. A real person reviews it (usually within 24–48 hours) and awards you the green Verifiedbadge. You can still send offers while it's pending — but most employers prefer Verified workers. More on the process →
- 3
Browse the worker feed
Open Find work and you'll see all open jobs sorted by how close they are to your pinned home base. Filter by category, distance, or sort by newest / highest price.
- 4
Send an offer
Either accept the employer's suggested price in one tap, or send a counter-offer with a short message. Be upfront about transport and timing — it makes acceptance much more likely.
- 5
Do the job + get paid
Once the employer accepts, the job is assigned to you. On the day, tap I'm on my way, share your live location, and take a before / after photo. Mark the job done when finished — the employer confirms, pays the agreed price (cash or EFT), and you both rate each other.
A few things worth knowing
Pricing + fees
During launch, Workit charges no commissionand no listing fees. The price agreed on the job is exactly what the employer pays the worker. We'll be transparent if that ever changes.
Payment
Payment is handled directly between employer and worker on completion — either cash or EFT, picked when the job is posted. Never pay upfront. Never accept payment for work you haven't done.
Trust + safety
Worker verification, ratings on both sides, in-app messaging, live location, an emergency SAPS button, photo proof, and a dispute system reviewed by a real admin. Read the safety guide →
Disputes
If something goes wrong — no-show, damage, payment refused, work not done — either side can raise a dispute on the job page. The job pauses, and our admin team reviews the messages, photos, and ratings.
